Kevin Nelson General Cool Shot, is that the ex Indiana RR E-8? 12/27/2005 2:12:39 AM
Robert Duncan Sr. General Nope, don't think so. Very interesting lineage on this one. It is originally a 4XXX series NYC E-8 and apparently had a front door then. It went PC for awhile and then on to NJ Transit, still in it's NYC/PC number. Then NJT put it up for sale and The New Georgia RR bought it. I watched a feller, Dick Fox I think, rebuild the brake stand and curse ALL of the predecessor mechanics who might have even touched it because THEY didn't repair it to Southern Rwy. standards.(AND they welded the front door shut I think.) When the New Ga. had my cousin-in-law George Adams repaint it, they painted it to match the NGRR scheme to match the originally Southern 6901. They subsequently numbered it "6902" to match up with the 6901. There was an original Sou. Rwy. 6902, but it was scrapped to my knowledge. I think TCRM bought it at auction one sultry summer day when Zig Zag Zell Miller sold us off for no reason. I don't think Indiana ever had this one.TCRM has been running her ever since AFAIK 12/27/2005 11:09:57 PM
